The men release a basketball ball from a 127-meter dam, the results are quite unexpected

The Gordon Dam in Tasmania, with its 127 meters in height, is one of Australia’s tallest buildings. These guys decided to go there and do an experiment that would shock them more than they could have expected.

They started by releasing the basketball, and as they guessed, it fell straight and landed where they had expected. Next time they threw the ball, they span it creating the so-called Magnus effect, and the result was not at all what we expected.

Magnus effect, named after Heinrich Gustav Magnus, is an awesome physical phenomenon which, if applied properly, could replace wings on airplanes and sails on sailboats.

Look what happens when these guys apply it to the basketball below, it’s absolutely amazing to see!
